Photo-documented

Anatomy of a roof

Seven layers. Every one inspected.

  1. 01

    Roof decking

The structural base. Soft or rotted boards are replaced before anything goes on top.

  2. 02

    Ice & water shield

A self-sealing membrane bonded to the deck along the eaves, valleys and penetrations, where ice dams and wind-driven rain hit hardest. It seals around every nail.

  3. 03

    Synthetic underlayment

A tear-resistant barrier over the whole deck. Lighter and stronger than old-school felt, and it won’t wrinkle or rot if it gets wet during the install.

  4. 04

    Specialized starter shingles

A dedicated first course along the eaves with a factory sealant strip, so the edge of the roof locks down and resists wind lift.

  5. 05

    Premium Class 3 synthetic shingles

The part you see. Synthetic shingles with a Class 3 impact rating stand up to hail and weather far better than standard asphalt.

  6. 06

    Ridge vent

Runs the length of the peak and lets hot, moist attic air escape, which protects the decking from below and extends shingle life.

  7. 07

    Specialized ridge shingles

Thicker, pre-formed caps that cover the ridge vent and finish the peak. Built to bend over the ridge without cracking.

Questions, answered.

Who performs the work?

Depending on your project, installation may be performed by an independent contracting partner or arranged under a direct Local Construction Company agreement. Before work begins, we identify the responsible contractor, contract terms and applicable warranties.

Who do I sign with and pay?

Your proposal names the contracting company and the payment recipient. You'll see both in writing before you sign or pay anything.

Who provides the warranty?

The warranty provider — the installing contractor, Local Construction Company, and/or the material manufacturer — is listed in your agreement, along with how to make a warranty request.

Do you handle insurance claims?

We provide construction documentation such as photos, measurements and a written scope. We don't negotiate claims or act as a public adjuster, and we never offer to waive or cover deductibles. Your insurer and policy determine coverage.

Is the inspection really free?

Yes. There's no obligation to move forward.

How quickly will someone contact me?

We aim to respond within 30 minutes during business hours. For an active leak, calling us is the fastest way to reach the team.

How do you choose installation partners?

Partners are reviewed against written criteria — relevant experience, insurance, written agreements and warranty terms, and fit for your project. Preferred contractors must also hold at least a 4.7-star Google rating and an A+ BBB rating — ratings that belong to those contractors, not to Local Construction Company. See How It Works for details.
